In March 2023, Zoe and I were tasked to code an agent-based algorithm with >3 state permutations, fully loop-able.
We were evaluated on the user experience of our agents, and the build quality/thematic appropriateness/usability of the physical controller to manipulate it.
A 2 person project (First Half). 2 Weeks. A solo project in the last 2 weeks.

Design and code a prospective placemaking project for a culturally significant space in Singapore.

Solo Project, 2 Weeks
Concept:
Orchard Road is Singapore's prime shopping district, home to numerous global luxury brands (Gucci, LV). This bustling street mirrors the international allure of Singapore.
It's also become (in)famous for its crows. The presence of crows in Orchard Road draws a historical parallel to these luxury brands.
Like our imported crows, initially brought to control pests in Singapore, the influx of foreign-owned stores has become both a symbol of sophistication and, for some, an encroachment perceived as a nuisance.
I wanted to bridge this connection through a P5 sketch.

Here's a record of some of my attempts to simulate bird movement using a physics engine plugin in P5 that I opted to learn on the fly.
I tried using a system of 'constraints' (rubber bands) and rigid bodies, to simulate the musculature of a bird in profile.
I'm quite happy with the degree of realism achieved.
After a satisfying result, I had to make the birds home in onto specific locations on the screen, at a realistic trajectory and flight path.
The balls dropped by the birds are placeholders for items picked up around the street: Gucci bags, Mcdonald paper bags,
This was hooked up to a Mediapipe Hands sketch I coded separately, so the birds could land onto your fingers, perch, drop its item and fly away.
